Bio

Michelle Hardwick (Kolbe) is the Director of Data Science & Analytics at Salt Lake Community College (SLCC). SLCC serves over 60,000 students annually and has 10 campuses in Salt Lake County. Her team at SLCC provides the data strategy, analytics, research and the backbone behind all data initiatives at the college. Michelle's team is driven by the goal of helping improve outcomes for every student at SLCC. With over 14 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Michelle has overseen multiple implementations of data warehouses, BI and analytics. Prior to SLCC, Michelle was a Consultant at Red Pill Analytics working on various analytics projects in multiple industries. In her past role as the Manager of Data & Insights at Backcountry.com, she guided all business intelligence projects at the online retailer of outdoor goods. The focus was on eliminating manual work and enabling data driven decisions throughout the company. She also mentored her team to ensure team growth and learning, consistency, and ensuring that projects will be maintainable for years not months. Michelle is also an Adjunct Instructor at the Utah State University teaching database and analytics courses at the graduate level. Michelle has a BS in Computer Science from Winona State University and an MBA from Utah State University. She serves as the President for the Utah Oracle Users Group and is currently the Executive Vice President of the Independent Oracle Users Group. She previously held a Board Position on the Healthcare Data Warehousing Association. Michelle also serves on the Advisory Council of the MIS Department at Utah State University. Michelle is recognized as an Oracle ACE Director and is a frequent speaker at conferences including Oracle OpenWorld, Collaborate, UTOUG, Kscope and the Oracle OTN Latin America Tour.
